ALADDIN REACHES NUMBER ONE SPOT AT HOLIDAY BOX OFFICE
Disney’s live-action “Aladdin,” starring Will Smith as the blue genie, has estimated to have brought in around $86.1 million from Friday through Sunday. It cost a reported $183 million to make and Disney says it expects the North American total for the long Memorial Day weekend from Friday through Monday, to reach $105 million.
The movie has received mixed reviews and has a 58% rating on Rotten Tomatoes site but it’s clearly a win for Disney which can now say that it is behind the top three highest-grossing openings so far in 2019 which includes Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame.
With Mr. Smith in the classic film, there was no doubt that it’d be an instant hit!
