Rapper 6ix9ine, who was accused of choking a teenage fan in the Galleria Mall earlier this year, was arrested in New York yesterday for the alleged assault.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is seen in video from the January encounter rushing up to a 16-year-old fan inside the mall who had just recorded video of the rapper. "Delete the video" Hernandez yells at the teenager in Spanish while holding onto his shirt. Hernandez, 22, then grabbed the teenager by the neck, "causing small scratch marks and pain," according to court documents filed by Houston police detectives.

A judge signed off on a misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury charge in May, court documents show. Houston Police Department was notified today of the arrest, according to spokesperson Kese Smith. It is unclear how quickly Hernandez will be extradited to Texas to answer the charges. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail.
