Big Sean announced a joint venture with cinema chain Emagine Entertainment to bring a high-end multiplex to his hometown of Detroit. The rapper has been vocal in his hopes to revitalize the downtown area and in a statement said "There is no major movie theater in the city of Detroit — this makes no sense to me."

Sean is hoping that the new theater will be more than just a place to see the latest blockbusters. Emagine founder Paul Glantz  plans to create a "luxury venue" that will have a total capacity of 1,300 seats, including a 300-seat auditorium which Sean hopes will become a a bustling, creative space for locals. The project is expected to have the theater and multi-purpose space up and ready by 2020.
