At the top of Wednesday's “Today” show on NBC, co-host Savannah Guthrie made the announcement that her colleague Matt Lauer was fired for inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace. The shocking news comes from an anonymous network employee when both were stationed at the Sochi Olympics in 2014 and continued beyond that assignment.

The network’s news chairman, Andrew Lack, said in a memo to staff NBC received a complaint about Lauer’s behavior on Monday and determined it was a clear violation of company standards. While it was the first complaint ever lodged against Lauer, Lack said, “we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.”

Lauer, 59, was told of his dismissal on Tuesday night. He's been with "Today" since 1997 and one of the highest paid anchors estimated between $25-28 million dollars a year. Lauer has yet to comment on the matter.
